After we were all packed....we both realized that it was 9:00 am, and we still had the rest of the day,and night..haha. I had messaged the neighbour Jill, asking her if we could sleep over - as there were bugs in our bed. haha. She replied "Absolutely", so that was VERY exciting for us, They had already invited us to go to the "Hot Pool" (which is like a Nordik spa where you can talk and there are children running around) and dinner afterwards. We still had the day to kill so we ventured into town.
I had to go to the bank and sort out some account crap, so after that we decided to to and have a "Goodbye Hawkes Bay' glass of vino at the pub down the street. We chatted about all of the things that we had enjoyed over the past two weeks (the beach, hikes, Jill & David, Anna that we met, the concert, Shelly putting the band guys dreads on her head) and those that we didn't "coughbugsinthehouseandbedcough". Then we headed back to the house to finish some last minute cleaning.
Jill messaged me and told them to meet us at the bottom of the hill to head to the hot pools. When they came done Jill jumped out of the car and brought us each a peice of fudge...OMG I love her. She is honestly one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She drove Matts car as she said that her husband David drives as fast as a racecar driver, and we are still new to driving on the left side of the road-let alone driving 130kms..haha.
The hot pools were cool. They were very relaxing. Jill paid for us, which was really sweet. We stayed for about 2 hours, and then headed accross the street to have some dinner, It was weird when we went to pay, as you don't tip here. We were at a Jack Astors type restaurant, and I felt like a cheap bitch not leaving a tip, but that's how they do it. They almost find it weird when you do. I felt so guilty that I put my change into a charity box..haha.
So we went back to Jill and David's nice....clean...warm...bugless...house :) It was awesome., She started a fire and we sat and watched the and had a glass of wine :) When we went to bed, the room was immaculate...and the sheets were clean :) It was so nice to go to bed and not have to worry about creepy crawlies having a game of poker on us while we are sleeping. I felt safe. Oh, and the best part was I didnt have to walk 19 minutes to go to the bathroom..oh the things that we take for granted.
So the next morning we woke up and had coffee and breakfast wirth the family. Jill's son Adam came up and we chatted about travel. He has been wanting to travel now for a while, so it was cool for him to be able to ask questions. Shelly has done a TON of travelling and was able to answer a lot of questions for him. After breaky we headed back to the house and picked up our bags. We said our good-byes to the awkward cats, and we were off to the airport to pick up Matt.
Matt's flight came in about 45 minutes late so Shelly plugged her phone in to charge for the 5 hour bus ride. When Matt got off the plane we had to wait about half an hour for him to shmooze with all of the parents, as he had just been away for the past 2 weeks in Sri Lanka coaching the kids Cricket team. He had to chat with the parents, and do all the stuff that teachers do, so Shelly and I just hung out.
Once he was ready to go, we headed into Napier and Matt dropped us off in town to wait for the bus, We went into Starbucks and Shelly sat with the bags while I went up to get our coffee's. When I came back poor Shlelly was looking all frantic. She could not find her phone. Uh-Oh. I was convinced that she had picked it up from the airport and it was in Matt's car. We messaged Jill and asked her to call Matt to see. My heart sunk for Shelly when she called us (on the Starbucks phone..what a Gem) and told us that Matt had checked the car and it wasnt there. Shelly asked a girl if she could use their cell, as the girl at Starbucks was a rude biatch and would not let Shelly make an "outcall". Karma...that's all I will say about that. So poor Shelly is trying to get a hold of someone at the airport, and all she is getting is automated voices, so she hangs up and comes and sits down. I felt so terrible for her. The girl that had let her use the phone came over and told Shelly that she would drive her to the airport to see if it's there. Wow...what a sweetheart. So off Shelly went with her and about 20 minutes later she came back and I could see a smile on her face. YAYYYYY! Wow...what a happy ending to a stressful afternoon.
So we walked over to catch the bus. The bus was called "The Naked Bus"...so naturally I took off all my clothes and waied for it to arive....hehe..KIDDING! That would have been funny though...and possibly slightly illegal ;) When in Rome?
The bus ride was fine. Well..it was a smelly bus. But it was getting us where we needed to go- so that was good :) It stopped at one point and the bus driver gave us 10 minutes to pee and grab some food...so naturally I took that as "pee...and a shot of tequilla". Shelly and I ran over and looked for anything that looked like it could be a bar. We found one, and by the sale of the 2$ condoms in the womans washroom- I knew we had found a classy one ;)
We came out...did a shot...went outside...realized that we still had 5 minutes....went back in...did one more.....and ran back to the bus. It made the last 2 hours quite fun actually, :)
So we arrived in Wellington around 10:15pm, and I will continue onto that night in the next post :) My fingers hurt, and my contacts are drying out...dammit.
To Be continued..... (yes- I know I am behind with my posts. Back off and get your own sandwich!)
