Sue Farry...What a Gem...

So once we get off the plane from Christchurch (we had to take 2 planes to get to Queenstown) we found ourselves a shuttle to take us to meet Sue, the woman we were wwoofing with, in town. The scenery was absolutely stunning. It reminded me of out west...but with a LOT more green. So we got dropped off where we were meeting Sue and as soon as we got ur bags out she got out of her car and came over to greet us. She is tiny, and has the coolest kiwi accent. She asked us about our flight and we chatted about her family. She is a widow..her husband who was a very well known doctor passed away 4 years ago suddenly. Her house...if you can even call it that....is about 20 minutes outside the town.

So she is telling us all of the great hiking trails as we drive by them. She lives in an amazing area where lots of people from "in town" drive out to hike. We pull into the laneway...wow. Her place is called "Bob's Cove...Punatapu." It just is...so don't ask me why..haha. She has SOOO much property. So, to be honest I had no idea what her place looked like beforehand (sometimes they put pics up on the wwoofing website) so this was a HUGE shock for me. Ok, well I will just attach a few pics so you can see for yourself....

As we started driving in...I was like...ummm....wtf?

Here is the front of the house...all of that green in the front is lavander...

This is in the hallway beside our room...wow

So there is someone that rents the small one on the left, and on the right is one of 3 kitchens...yes...I said ONE of THREE kitchens...

So I could basically take a photo of every single thing in this house, but that would fill this whole page...and requires more work. But basically this place is amazing. She farms Deer and goats...one of the goats reminds me of a Wizard...I have to get a pic and put it one here..haha. Made me laugh.

So she shows us all around the house and where everything is, and then gives us some dirty clothes for weeding. We are required to work 4 hours a day, and she gives us 3 meals a day...and once we are done work we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want. It's wicked!
So at this point it's about noon and we put on our clothes and get started in the lavander patch. It's massive, and we are to clear out all the weeds and clip away all the dead stuff. I actually don't mind it, The lavander smells amazing and it's kind of like a meditation. The stupid sand flies though..we are friends off. They look like baby flies, and they bite like a mother-fucker. The bites swell up and ooze yicky stuff when you scratch them too....but it's so hard not to itch! They are itchy!!

So after we finished our 4 hours we went in and got changed for dinner. She is an unreal cook, so they food that we get is Grade A stuff.  We went inside and watched some T.V until bed. We were Sooo tired from only having 3 hours sleep the night before, and working outside hat we went to bed around 9:00 am. It was a wonderful first day in our new home for the next while :) I feel very lucky to be staying with Sue. She is pretty friggin cool ;)

xo

Here are some of her deer....she calls them her "babies" :)

Oh ya..almost forgot the best part! She has a FULL gym that we can use...like every machine that Goodlife has....score!
